Three questions first
- 1
Do you want to keep going after the show?
Yes: the DOUGLAS, whose lobby bar D/6 runs late, and whose big suites have pool tables and bars. No: the JW.
- 2
Is anyone sensitive to stairs?
The DOUGLAS's three big suites are on two levels with staircases; so is the JW's Parq Villa. The JW's Sky Suite is the large option without one in the description.
- 3
Is the budget per person or per room?
Two standard rooms are often simpler than one suite. Ask the desk for both prices, and decide when you see them.
If you go DOUGLAS
The DEN Suite is the classic group choice: billiards table, fireplace, sectional, wet bar and dining for four downstairs; two bedrooms upstairs; a bathroom with a Japanese soaking tub. Apartment 108 trades the stadium for a False Creek view and adds foosball. The LOFT has one bedroom but a patio table for eight, which makes it the pre-show dinner suite.
If you go JW
The Sky Suite has two king bedrooms, each with its own marble bathroom, a powder room, a media room and a whirlpool for two, across 1,985 sq ft high up. The Ivy Suite has a pool table in the living area. For a calmer group, two rooms on the Executive Lounge floor give you breakfast and evening snacks without leaving the building.
Our lean
Party group: the DEN. Mixed group with an early riser: the Sky Suite, because two separate bathrooms end most arguments. Couples who want their own space: two rooms in the same tower, and meet at D/6.
House rules still apply
A big suite is not a private venue. Keep the patio sensible late at night and expect the hotel to enforce its rules. If you want a real private party, Parq rents the Johnnie Walker Lounge off the casino floor for up to 50 guests aged 19 and over.
