The short version
You are booking one of two hotels, not one hotel with two wings. The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is the bigger, calmer one, with the spa and the rooftop tub on its 17th floor. The DOUGLAS, Autograph Collection is the smaller, louder-dressed one, with its lobby bar, D/6, on the sixth floor, right on the rooftop park. Both share the casino, the restaurants, the ballrooms and the address, 39 Smithe Street.
If you want quiet after a loud night, go JW. If you want the night to keep going in a room with a pool table, look at the DOUGLAS suites. If you just need a bed close to the stadium, either works, so ask for both and take whichever is open.

Which tower for which night
- 2people
A gig at Rogers Arena, back by midnight
Either hotel. The arena is a block away, so the choice is about mood: JW for a soft landing, the DOUGLAS if you want a nightcap at D/6 before bed. D/6 stays open late on Thursday to Saturday.
- 4friends
A stadium show and a long night after
Look at the DOUGLAS suites first: the DEN and Apartment 108 have pool tables and lounges built for a crowd. On the JW side, the Ivy Suite also has a pool table.
- 2+and a dog
You are bringing the dog
The JW takes one dog up to 15 kg per room. The DOUGLAS sells a pet package. Either way, tell the desk the dog's weight in your request.
- 6+guests
Family or a big group across two rooms
Ask for two rooms in the same tower. The Sky Suite on the JW side has two bedrooms, each with its own marble bathroom, plus a powder room.
- 1night
You are flying out early
The JW sits closer to the spa and the gym if you want a workout before the Canada Line to YVR. Our getting-here page has the transit links.
What we could not confirm
Marriott loads the list of ordinary room types, their sizes and bed set-ups from a booking system that would not show us the details. Third-party sites print sizes that disagree with each other, so we leave them out. The same goes for check-in and check-out times. When our desk answers your request, it quotes the room type, the bed and the policy for your exact dates.
Both hotels say there may be only a limited number of accessible rooms of each type, and that you choose one while booking. The large suites are not offered in accessible versions. If you need a roll-in shower or hearing kit, put it in your request and we will ask before we quote.
Read the rooms in detail
Each category we could verify has its own page: JW Marriott rooms, JW Marriott suites, the DOUGLAS rooms and the DOUGLAS suites. Booking direct? The hotels take reservations on their own pages: JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and the DOUGLAS.
