First: the show itself
BC Place has a retractable roof, as the JW's guide points out. Rogers Arena is an indoor arena. Your show is covered either way. The only wet part is the walk, and from Parq that is short.
A dry-ish day
- 9a.m.
Breakfast in
Honey Salt opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and at the weekend.
- 10a.m.
Science World
In a geodesic dome with an OMNIMAX theatre, reachable along the seawall, say the hotels. Good for families.
- 12p.m.
Granville Island
The DOUGLAS puts the public market a ten-minute drive away, or a short boat ride. The Kids Market sits in a 100-year-old factory with more than 25 shops.
- 3p.m.
Floor 17
Spa by JW for a treatment, or the steam rooms. The outdoor tub is warm even in rain, if you like that.
- 5p.m.
Early dinner
The Victor, indoors, with the park visible through the glass.
- 7p.m.
Show
Umbrella for two minutes, then you are inside.
Further out, if the rain stops
The hotels' own lists go wider: Stanley Park's 1,001 acres and the Vancouver Aquarium inside it, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, 230 feet above the river, the 2.9 km Grouse Grind, and a day trip to Whistler. None of those is a rainy-day plan, but all of them are on the hotel concierge's list if the sky clears.
What to pack
A light waterproof that folds small, because BC Place publishes a clear bag policy and a big bag is a problem at the gate. Shoes that can take a wet seawall. A phone charger, or plan on Parq Market, which sells electronics all night.
